Our Summer so far!!

(loooong post, get a drink and a piece of pie, you are gonna be here for awhile!)
Is going way toooooo fast!!! I love having the kids home! They are big helpers and I love that we can just pick up and go do whatever we want, whenever we want and not have to be home if we don't want! (Hows that for good English. Maybe I need to go back to school!) We have had a lot happen so here goes....

First Ty came down one Sunday night right after I put him to bed telling me that he needed a band-aid for his foot. He has 100 excuses for getting out of bed before he finally goes to sleep each night so I just thought it was one of those. I was telling him he didnt need a band-aid unless he was bleeding as I was taking off his sock. I looked down and about fell out of my chair when I saw this...



At first I thought he was bit by a spider so I went up to his room and looked all through the covers. Didnt see anything and thought, if it is bad in the morning Ill take him in to the doctor. The next morning I totally forgot about it til about 11 am. I told him to come and show it to me and it was even worse. So I took him into the doctor. He said he thought it was probably a spider too. He thought probably a hobo spider because if it would have been a black widow he would have had seizures. (oh nice!) He marked it with a pen so we could tell if the swelling was going down with the antibiotic he gave him. That night he got even worse. And started going past the markings and up his leg. So I called after hours. The doctor that was on call said that what I was explaining didnt sound like a spider bite but sounded like MRSA. I about wet my pants. Ive watched Oprah and I know this isnt good!! ;-) So I freaked a little and started a google quest while Scott went and got another drug for him. Of course I see all the worst case's online. But it did say it was commonly mistaken for spider bites because it looks just like it. Luckily the combinations of meds worked and we got it under control. So I bleached the house and hopefully thats the last of that!! We are very very blessed that it wasnt as bad as it could have been!!!



My cousin (BFF), Mandy found out she is PREGNANT WITH TWINS!!! I am so excited! I get to have a baby and not be pregnant! Wahoo!! We are due December 26th but Im sure our twins will come sooner! I dont know how her husband feels about me taking one of these babies, but he will get over it... This makes baby three and four for her! I cant believe when we get together we will have EIGHT kids between the two of us. We are in for some fun times!!

Scotts brother Ben also got married this summer to a cute cute girl named Nicole. She's my competition you know. Shes the only other sister in law. But he couldnt have picked anyone better! They got married in the Salt Lake Temple



and Nicole looked beautiful!





I tried to get a cute picture of all the kids...but well...they werent co-operating. So after 100 pictures of them, this is the best I got. Nice.



But this one isnt so bad.



We took a trip to Yuba. Jentry went to fifth grade camp. (neither I have pictures of! Sorry!)



We went to Strawberry Days because my brother Todd was in the milking a cow part. I cant remember what it was called. He did it with his friend Ruger and my other cousin Chad. They did pretty good but still lost! ;-) We got drenched! It rained pretty good for awhile there. This is about the first week in the last few weeks that we havent had a down pour every night/day! It was starting to get very annoying!! I dont mind rain...but not EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!

We have been having swimming pool withdrawls so yesterday we decided to go to the pool even though it wasnt warm enough for it! We shivered a little but had a good time! I was so impressed that I didnt even wear sun screen and I couldnt see a sunburn on me! Well that soon changed...by the time I got in the car I could feel my whole body was burnt. Ive been waddling around all day because I can barely walk. My legs kill! Next time I wont forget the sun screen for myself!!!

Well thats our summer so far! We have many more adventures to go on, I hope!

RIP Snicks

Snickers Scott passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the age of 11. She was my brothers dog and a part of the family. The kids loved her and she didnt seem to mind them either. Last year she went in for some surgery and they found out it was cancer. They said she wouldnt last another year. And she didnt. Today I went with Todd to have her put down. It didnt quite go like I thought it would. I didnt know it happened so fast. We will miss her whenever we go to my parents house.

'Rockin' Taylor Swift Concert!

Well the big night finally arrived!!! Jentry has been (im)patiently waiting since she announced her 'Fearless Tour'. Right after school Jamie came and picked us up and off we went. We picked up Lexi in Bountiful. Boy Jamie and I are not good at navigating Salt Lake Streets. But we made it, after a few turn arounds. We then went to Crown Burger for dinner. Its right by the Energy Solutions and if you buy $14 in food there you get 'free parking'. Well it isnt hard to buy $14 in food there...a cheese burger meal is over $7. While we were there we heard that Kelli Pickler had canceled because she was sick. But rumors were that she had the same agent as Garth Brooks so he might come. We could only be so lucky. We ate and then walked over to the Arena. We found her tour bus and took a few pictures in front of it. The girls wanted a shirt so we stood in crazy lines to get one. It was so hot. A 14 or so year old girl was next to me and I heard her say something about who was going to be filling in for Kelly. She said it was Gloriana. I said.. Who is she? She gives me this "you are so old" look and says its not a she, its a band. Well excuse me. LOL Anyway we got their cute shirts and went and found our seats. Lucky us got to sit 3 rows from the very back. Jentry was freaking out because of the heights. When the girls in front of us stood up I told Jentry she could stand up too. She stood up but she was holding on for dear life to her seat. I told her she would be ok and that she wouldnt fall but she didnt believe me til about 3/4 of the way through the concert. I just love this picture of Shelbey! The girls were so excited when Taylor Swift finally came out. They sang all of her songs right a long with her and loved every minute of it. I think T.S. had 8 costume changes so the girls thought that was pretty cool. It was a little bit more rock and rollish then I thought it would be but it was still a GREAT concert. One thing that I thought was pretty funny is she likes to flip her hair around. Every song she was head banging too and flipping her hair. So when we got out of the concert I started flipping my hair around and I got in big trouble by Jentry, "DONT MAKE FUN OF HER!!!" Whoops. She ended the concert by "rain" falling on her. Jentry thought that was great. I think the girls had a great time and Im glad we were able to do this with just them! (while she will still do something with her old mom). Heres the old moms.

Coach Pitch!

I signed Brinley up for Coach Pitch this year. She was so super excited. We didnt do t-ball last year so this is her first experience in any sport. I didnt know how well she would do but she does GREAT! She is so funny when she is playing. She will get to a base and have to stop and wave at me. I tell her she needs to concentrate on the game but she is too worried about what is going on with us. Its very cute.

My parents took her to her last game and she got to be catcher. How cute!!!



The best part about going to the games is getting to chase two little boys around the whole time. (I hope you can hear my sarcasm)

Golden Explorer

I am so proud of Jentry! She received a huge reward at school. Its called the Golden Explorer. When she first brought the note home from school with all of the requirements I LAUGHED! It seemed ridiculous, all the things that she would have to do to get it... Read 20 books off of a list, get 100% on all spelling, capitals, states, 5 min. times tables, five minute division, do a reflections project, not be absent for more then 10 days, and so on and on and on. I thought there is no way Im going to make her get this. So I set it aside....in the garbage can.

Half way through the year Jentry came home all excited and said that her teacher had called her and 4 other students back and said that they were the only ones in class that were on track to get the award. So she was gonna go for it. She still had a lot of books she had to read but she got hot and heavy on it and red a book every other day. Buuuuuut still, I didnt think she would make it. Im that supportive! But SHE DID IT! And I was so proud of her. She is too smart to be my kid!! Her BFF also got it so that made it even cooler!!! Way to go Jentry! Im so proud of you and all of your hard work. YOU ARE AWESOME! (yes she does read my blog, she likes to see what I say about her lol)

Our first attempt at a garden....

So we've decided to try our green thumb at a garden this year. The problem is...I dont think we have much of a green thumb!! We planted a garden this last weekend and Im hoping we get a little something out of it. Im not expecting much and will be surprised if the plants survive two little boys.

We planted some tomato's, cucumbers, crooked neck squash, and zucchini. Im sure I planted them all wrong and too close together but Im hoping I learn more as the years go by and one day we have a great garden!

Summer was here for a day!!!

Yesterday Summer stopped by for a visit. She brought with her 90 degree temps and lots o' sunshine!!! We took advantage of her being here and got the little splash pool out. The boys were so excited when I set it up! They ran up to get their 'swimming pants' on and got all sunscreened up. They were having a great time in the pool until Chase dumped water on Ty. Ty had a fit!! I told Ty that he could splash Chase too and then all was good! They played in the pool for a good while!
They loved it!






I think Spring is coming back for a few days and then maybe Summer will grace us once more and stay for awhile.

BFF's

Jentry has been waiting for this weekend with great anticipation!!! Brittney came down! Brittney was her first friend when we moved into this house when Jentry was 4 years old. I remember her coming over for the first time with her cute little curly hair. Both her and Jentry were so shy. But the next day Jentry had my dad take her back over to Brittneys so they could play. And it was non stop after that. Until Brittney had to move about 2 years back. Broke Jentrys heart. They have seen eachother very limited since then. Just a couple weeks ago Jentry had asked me if I thought she would ever see Brittney again. I told her I didnt know for sure. Then Brittneys mom got ahold of me and asked me if Jentry was going to be around this weekend. They were coming down! Jentry couldnt have been more excited. For a week she kept asking me.. "Are they for sure coming down?" She was convinced they might change their plans.

They had a great weekend!! Played the night away on Friday! They had a late night with Kayleah and then came back here for a sleepover. They were up bright and early the next morning out to play with Kayleah again! They loved every minute of it! I was so glad they played well together. Somehow its not always a good idea to have three girls together..someone always goes home mad...but they had SUCH a great time! Jentry was totally bummed when I called her home so we could take them up to my parents while we went out for our Anniversary. I got the look of death when I told her it was time to go. We hurried and took some pictures and said our goodbyes. Brittney said she would be down this summer and Jentry is banking on that! It couldnt come soon enough!

We love Chalk!!

Sidewalk Chalk is a favorite around here! We make sure every year to get some in the spring. Its always so fun to be able to draw outside and then have the rain wash it away!!! (If it does rain!) The boys have especially loved it this year! Ty is always coming in with blue hands. I went to take a picture of him outside with his blue hands and Chase did not want to be outdone so he had me take a picture of him too. I also love Ty's pants in this picture. They are always falling down. He has nothing to hold them up and a belt is out of the question when its potty time!

Gone Fishing

This last week Ty got invited to go fishing with my dad and brother. He had THE best time! Ive got to hear about it all the rest of the week. Ive heard some interesting stories about it and wonder how much if it is true. Like he caught the fish in the eye ball and the guy they also went with lives in a cave. hmmm... I wonder what is going on in that little 3 year old mind sometimes.

I could not sleep all night thinking about him going off on a big fishing adventure without me. Not that I was jealous. I was nervous something would happen to him. I had visions of him falling into the water and never coming up, wandering off and never being found... on and on and on and on. I didnt sleep the whole night!!

He had to be up early 6:30. I went into his room and picked him up. He was still sleeping on my shoulder so I said "Do you wanna go fishing?" and he sprung up, wide eyed. And then off they went....

Chase followed me around the whole day. He was one lonely soul. I guess thats how its going to be when Ty goes to school. If Id go upstairs to put something away Id hear a little voice saying "Mom! Where are you?" He missed his buddy!!!

Sorry, I have plans.

Im so excited to get to take Jentry to the Taylor Swift concert in May!! She is a huge fan. When I heard she was coming to SLC we waited and waited for tickets to come on sale. Looked at her website all the time... but all that was there was "COMING SOON" Finally they went on sale! I didnt tell Jentry because I knew they would be hard to get and I didnt want her to get her hopes up. I found out that they were having a presale the day before tickets went on sale to the public. So at 10 am I was on the computer trying to get tickets. I was able to get six pretty quickly. But I needed 12 for all the people that wanted to go! My sister in law's Jamie and Missy and I tried for about another 2 hours but got nothing else. But I had six...and I was excited about that. When I went to pick up the tickets at Albertsons the lady asked me if I had bought them on a presale? I said yes and she said.. "Well you know what that means, no tickets tomorrow!"

The next day I was ready at 10 am again. I thought it would be easier then getting them on the presale but boy was I wrong!!! I couldnt get tickets for the life of me. I was listening to the radio as I was trying and the DJ guy said "Only singles are available now!" This was like 15 minutes into it. So I tried for a single, and got it. Tried for 2 and got those and then my SIL was able to get one more. We didnt get all 12 that we wanted but thats ok. (Those were for Brinley and her cousin that is her same age, Abby). They arent too bummed.

Oh and the best part...the tickets were only $20!!!

Jentry is so excited to go with her cousins!! I think this is going to be a great night!! We are going to leave right after school (Its the last week of School on Tuesday) and go up to the Cheesecake Factory (never been there) and then to the concert! We are super excited around here!

S-U-P-E-R Student!

Brinley was a super student in March. (yes, Im a little late in posting this!) She got 10 bucks and a certificate. She was very excited to come home and show me! Though, she doesn't look too thrilled in this picture. She added her $10 to her stash of money that she is saving up to get a rip stick. Yay, more ER visits.

A few easter pics...

We had a great Easter weekend!! It was a very busy one. We started off Saturday having an Easter egg hunt at Scotts grandma's house. She died a year ago but this is where Scotts family always had their Easter egg hunts as kids so we thought it would be fun to do it one last time! The kids loved running around getting Easter eggs! At the end Scotts mom gave out money that went with corresponding eggs. If you had an even numbered egg it was a dollar, odd numbered 50 cents and Egg number 33 was the coveted $5 egg!!! Brinley found that one. And boy was she excited!!!




We then went up to my moms house for her birthday!! She is turning 31 ( *wink wink ) this year and we went up to celebrate. You would think we would have been the most exciting part of the day but no...it was when two ducks flew into her yard that she thinks followed her home from work! She ran out to feed them and had everybody cracking up that she was so excited about it. I guess these things excite you when you get as old as her!!

The next morning was Easter *and my birthday*. The kids were very excited to wake up to the Easter Bunny foot prints that he leaves every year. (sorry this picture is from my phone so its not the best...but you get the idea!)



After church we headed down to my grandma and grandpas house for lunch and an egg hunt! The kids loaded up on lots of candy and money eggs!! Lucky ducks! I say we do a money hunt for the adults next year. I could use a few dollars.










We then ended the night at Scotts parents house for dinner. (Did I mention we ate enough to last us a week!!) It was a great Easter and Birthday!!!

Another two year old!!

I always feel as if I have a two year old. But this is probably going to be my last. Chase had his 2nd birthday the day after Scotts. He has been saying he was two for months now though. We had a little family party for him. I went to walmart because I was feeling lazy and found him the cutest cake! It was made out of cupcakes and I thought it was the perfect cake for a boy turning two. It was a Little Peoples Farm Cake. How cute is that?!





Chase didnt believe that it was his birthday and everytime Id say Happy Birthday to him he would say, "NO ITS DADS HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" He was just not grasping the concept that it was HIS birthday!!! And he especially didnt like it when people were singing to him.



I cant believe its been two years since he was born. (I cant believe that with any of my kids!) Two years ago since I felt labor pains. LOL it feels like it was only yesterday!! This boy has been VERY entertaining his whole two years and always has us on his toes, whether its inhaling crayons or chopping off fingers..Im sure he has many more surprises up his sleeve!!! I love you my little Awza!!

My hubby is old!!

Ok not really but he is getting up there. Scott celebrated his THIRTY-FIRST birthday in March ( I know, I know, Im a little behind!) Its crazy to me that Ive known him since the wee age of 18 and now look at him...all grown up ;-) For his birthday we went out to dinner. Birthdays just arent as exciting when you are old!

Im not going to freak out...Im not going to freak out...

Im gonna freak out.

My back up hard drive died. Do you all know what this means? All of my old pics, videos, videos from the kids' birth. GONE! ALL GONE!

But Im not going to freak out.

I had TWO back up hard drives. One went out a little while ago...but I wasnt the least bit worried. I had my brand new Western Digital (supposed to be a great hard drive).

Well Scott went to get into it the other day and couldnt. Took it into the computer store. They couldnt. Said it was toast. Yay.

Im just freaking out a little.

I live with a bunch of sickos!!!

Im so sick of going to the doctor, I could puke myself.

It all started months ago. Scott got sick for like three weeks. Finally he went to the doctors and got on some anti-biotics. He ended up having a hard time with them and had to stop taking them.

Then I got sick. I still have a horrible cough from it and a stuffy nose. Its been at least three weeks.

Then Chase had his finger incident. Had to go to the hospital for that...and then to the docs 10 days later to get his stitches removed.

Next week Brinley comes down with the flu, ear infection and needed an inhaler.

2 days ago...Jentry wakes up with a sore throat. Yesterday it got worse. And this morning it was even worse. Took her to the doc and she has strep throat. She is the QUEEN of strep throat.

The doctor knows every Monday morning there will be a call from the Hendricksen clan. I hope he is enjoying all of my co-pays.

Smarty Pants....

She must get it from me.

He's killing me off slowly.

Chase that is. I swear this boy will put me in the nut house before he is five. Saturday I was in my room getting dressed. Brinley had had a sleep over with her cousin Livvy at our house and all the kids were upstairs playing in the hall. I guess Brinley was trying to get into the room with Jentry and Jentry was trying to shut the door. Chase had has little pinkie finger in the hinge side of the door and Jentry shut the door all the way and smashed it. I hear Chase SCREAMING and Jentry yell "MOM, I shut Chases finger in the door... MOOOOOOOOOOOOOM HES BLEEEEEEDING!!!" I fling the door open to find blood gushing from his finger. All I could think about is Bethany (scotts little sister) got her finger chopped off in a door when she was 1. Scott is freaking out. Im freaking out. We grab him and take him into the bathroom and Im trying to run his finger under water to see what kind of damage we have but every time I take it out of the water it just fills with blood and I cant really see how bad it is. I could tell that his finger nail was just hanging there and that his finger was all attached but thats about all. Scott calls his mom to come watch the kids, I call Bethany and say "Can you come watch my kids!?" I didnt tell her why cause if I would have talked anymore I think I would have started bawling. She says yes and I hang up.

Chase screamed all the way to the hospital. Poor thing. He didnt want me anywhere near his finger. We get there and go into the triage nurse. He wanted nothing to do with her either. He didnt want her to touch him anywhere. She tried to put the little heart thing on his toe and he was flipping. He kept saying "NOT LIKE THAT!!!" Finally we got all that done and Scott said "Was that fun" and Chase said "YEAH!!!"

They took him back and looked at his finger. The doc decided to give him Katamine (I dont know how to spell it) but it puts them to sleep for about 20 minutes so that he could stitch him up. When they gave him the shot in his leg he flipped. It must have really hurt!! After a minute or two he was starring off into space and finally shut his eyes and went to sleep


The doctor took off his whole nail and stitched up his finger with 4 stitches. The doctor had said that the nice thing about this medicine is that they have amnesia and cant really remember about an hour before. And that they cant feel the pain at all. I dont know if I believe that, because when the doctor would touch his finger he would grunt and when he woke up he remembered everything we had seen before. (the fish, helicopter and me telling him the sharps container was ku-ku)

They bandaged him up and sent us home.



He did good with the bandage the whole day...but when I went in his room the next morning he had it taken off. And putting another one on was a nightmare! Then I went to get him dressed and THAT one came off! So we have been using bandaids and he leaves those alone. But changing them is also a nightmare. He doesnt like anyone by his finger. He uses his hand just fine but if anyone else touches it he screams.

Jentry had a hard time getting over it and I think she is more scarred about it then he is. I think they will think twice about shutting doors now.
