His Dad thinks hes pretty cute....

The other day we were eating lunch and Scott jumped up from the table and ran and got the camera, took a couple of pictures of Ty and continued to eat lunch. I think he thinks he's pretty cute. I do too. Ty on the other hand...was not co-operative with the pictures.

Starvation

This labor day weekend we went with my parents, aunts, uncles and parents friends to Starvation Reservoir. And we actually stayed the night. I think that is Chases first time sleeping over camping. Saturday was beautiful, Sunday was colder but still nice. The girls had a great time. Jentry had a few kids her age to play with (2 girls and 2 boys). They went on MANY hikes. Brinley also had a friend to play with and they got along GREAT!!! Even painted eachothers toes. Heres a few pictures of our trip.

Happy 100th Birthday Grandma!!!

Today I was web surfing and came across one of our family websites Ive never looked at. It's My Grandma Scotts (my dads mom), Mom. So my great Grandma. I was reading through some of the stuff and came across her birthday...which is...TODAY! September 2, 1908. I thought that was interesting how Id come across that on her birthday.

SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!

I do have a few memories of her from when I was little. I remember her siamese cats. They were mean and I dont think many dared pet them. I remember her coming over on Christmas morning to see what we got. I remember candy corns in her candy dish. I remember her funeral and Grandpa Sorenson telling jokes through the family prayer. I remember telling my sister Kym just to not be scared and just to act like she was asleep. It was the first funeral either of us had been to. And that is about all the memories I have of her. I should be better at Geneology. It fascinates me.

Date night...with the girls.

Every month we trade off kids with Scotts sister, Lisa, so that we can go on a date...just the two of us. Its worked out really well.

Today Scott came home and said...do you think you can get a babysitter? Lets go to Tepanyaki. I told him Im sure I could...but I think it would be fun to take the girls. We have been wanting to do that for a long time. I called Lisa, and she said she could babysit the boys...so off we went.

Tepanyaki is a Japanese grill where they cook it in front of you, and do a show. You know the kind. The girls were very excited to go with us!! I told them they have to at least try everything they get...and if they dont like it, they dont like it, I guess.

Brinley was just excited to get steak. She is a steak girl. And when I told her that they also serve shrimp...she was almost in heaven.

The cook was very funny with Brinley. When he went to give her her rice he just gave her one piece in her bowl. She looked at me and said "I dont think he even gave me any!" Then he only gave her one piece of steak. She looked at me and said "He is annoying!" She was not amused with his teasing. When he asked her how she wanted her steak cooked he acted like he couldnt hear her and told her that he was just going to have to cook it however he wanted. And if he didnt give her enough food then she would just have to go to McDonalds. She was not pleased. But of course, we were laughing.

Brinley ended up trying everything and loved almost everything except for the zucchini.



Jentry liked everything but the onion soup. Though I didnt tell her it was onion soup because I knew if I did she wouldnt have even tried it.

We had a fun night and it was great just to hang out with the girls. The boys had a great time at Aunt Lisa's. Ty told me she had TOYS!! I dont know if he has been downstairs in our playroom lately...but we have toys too. LOL

Memories Of Grandmas House.

Scotts grandma died in October. His Aunts and his dad have finally got her house on the market, ready to sell. Tonight we went over there after going to dinner to look around and I thought I should probably take some pictures of the girls while we were there. Who knows if we will get another chance.

This is the closet that all the kids would run to the second they would go to Grandma's. Thats where she kept the toys. Most of them were toys from when Scott was little or even older then that. There were dolls in there from her kids.



This is the poarch. I remember her telling me how much she loved her screen door. Said it was the "jewel of my home" I always thought that was so cute.



This is a tree that she got many many years ago (I think it was when Scotts dad was in his early 20's) for mothers day. She loved that tree.



Im going to miss going over there and seeing her (I already do).

Happy Birthday Grandpa... (Dad!!)

Its my dads 49th Birthday on Wednesday. Ive spent some time putting together slide shows of the grandkids for him. I think they turned out pretty cute. The only stupid thing about them is the videos that I recorded with my flip video...when I go to burn them to DVD they scrunch up at the top and have a green screen at the bottom. I dont think I have the size right. But being as computer illeterate as I am, I dont know how to change it. Id like to keep these cute videos in so Ill have to give him the videos like this and spend more time later trying to figure out what Im doing wrong. I dont expect any of you guys to watch these, they are long! But I wanted to post them here anyway. I love at the end of Ty's how he says "Im proud of you grandpa." Very cute!! Jentry has some weird memories at the end of hers. I dont know about that child. Chase is supposed to say bye at the end of his but instead he just points and Brinley...well she just woke up. lol.

First Day of School *08

I have TWO FULL DAYERS!

Brinley was so excited for school to start. She would wake up every day, for the last week, telling me "3 more days mom!" "Two more days mom!" ....

We woke up on Wednesday and the first thing out of her mouth was "Are we late?" We usually are late to everything, but not today.

Jentry was excited too but shes an old pro at this so she didnt show her excitement like Brinley did.

We got the lunches packed, dressed in new clothes, breakfast ate, hair done, teeth brushed.. and off we went!



We walked Jentry to her class. I tried to take a cute picture of her underneath her teachers name plate at the door. Kids had to stop and wait for me to take the picture and Jentry was none too pleased that I was taking pictures in front of her classmates. I told her to smile and this is what I got...the "GET OUT OF HERE MOM" look. Ill take what I can get.



Then me and Chase walked Brinley to her class. I went to take her picture but of course, she had to look at everyone walking by, so shes not even looking at the camera. Oh well.



I had forgotten to show Brinley where she hung her backpack and where her cubby was the day before at the open house so we went in and did that. And then left...

....

It was a long day.

But luckily we had Uncle Todd here to keep us company.. We went up the to Reservior. Todd had never been there and wanted to see it.

The boys decided it would be great fun to play in the water.







The girls finally came home and had had a great day. Brinley said she made a friend...just didnt know what her name was. Im sure they will be great friends. ;-)

Jentry came home talking about all the books she gets to read.

Today was a bit harder sending them off. They rode their bikes to school and it was a different feeling seeing little Brinley tag along with Jentry for a ride to school. Its usually just Jentry I send off.

Its still quiet...the boys are still asleep...

I think I could get used to this....

Dedicated Hunter...or not....

This Saturday started out as any other Saturday. Did a little yard work, did a little house work, did a little car work (not me of course). Then my dad called for his daily check in. Asked if we were going to go out that night for the archery hunt? Ummmmm doesnt that start...NEXT WEEK? So I acted like we knew what was going on... and said, I didnt know if we were going to go out or not. After I hung up I quickly ran to the computer to check what was the opening day of the hunt. Sure enough, it was Saturday August 16. I went out to tell Scott. I said "Did you know today is the opening day of the deer hunt?
Scott: Whatever.
Leslie: Whatever!!
Scott: You're such a liar.
Leslie: Wanna bet me a hundred bucks.
Scott: Yeah, Ill bet ya a hundred bucks.

He ran in here to check on the computer. I still had the screen up. He still didnt believe it and went and looked at other pages.

Sure enough.

That sent him into a whirl wind!

Scott: "I cant believe I didnt know the opening of the deer hunt! They never do it this early in August."

Leslie: Sure they do, They did it on the day Blair and Mandy got married. Well today is their anniversary.

Scott frantically looking at his calendar on his phone scrolling back to last year. "Oh, it was on the 18th last year! I cant believe I didnt know!!"

He called everyone looking for a friend to go on the night hunt with.

There I sat.

After he had exhausted all other options. I said..."well...how about me. Can I go with ya?"

"You would wanna go?"

I think he forgot that I like to do stuff like that too. Im just always the one watching the kids.

I told him to call his mom and see if she was available to watch the kids while we went.

She was!

So she came and picked up the kids and off we went to Walsburg.

With no kids. YAY!



We got up there about 5. Got the four-wheeler out



And off we went.
We didnt see many deer...not even one buck.

But I didnt mind. It was QUIET!! And we got to TALK.

It was nice.

Ill have to do it again in another five years when Im invited. And, Im still waiting on my hundred bucks...

Brinleyism

Today Brinley was taking a shower and I was doing my hair. I heard the shower turn off so I said "Did you make sure to wash your hair?" Then I hear "dang it! I forgot to rinse out my air conditioner." She almost had it right. ;-)

Tyism #1

If you have read through this blog you know I have Brinleyism's of funny things she says. Well now that Ty has started to talk, he is coming up with some of his own.

The other day he lifted his shirt, pointed to his ribs and said "Mom, are these my ribbons?" (ribs). It took me a few times having him say it to figure out what he was saying. So now we call them ribbons. Just like we call when we get the chills..."Ive got the chisels" From Brinley.

Im sure we will have many more Ty-isms coming up.

"Just one more ride"

On Wednesday my mom and dad were nice enough to take all the grand kids to Liberty Land. This is that place that you see right off of the freeway that has the Mt. Rushmore faces. (For you Utahns) My mom has been wanting to take the kids there since before it even opened. So Wednesday was our day.
We got there at about 1 pm or so and stayed until around 6 or 7. Its like a big Trafalga (also for you Utahns. They have airplanes, a mini (fast) roller coaster, go carts, bumper boats, a rocket thing that, a boat that swings you from side to side and a train. We went on a great day! There was hardly anyone there and each attendant was manning a few of the rides. So if you would just go to a ride then they would run over and start it for you. No waiting in lines. NIIIIICE. The kids loved it!!! It was even a nice day and not TOO hot. (a little hot, but we survived). Ty was so excited to ride in anything that his sisters would take him on (which was everything). My mom about died when they got on the roller coaster. But everyone survived. Much to her amazement. Though I dont think she would have let them go on it again if they had asked. I think she was still having panic attacks over it even after we left. The kids had a great time and are already asking when they get to go back.
We tried to leave I think 20 times...but Grandpa kept saying...one more ride, one more ride. Finally I had to take Chase out and wait for them in the car so grandpa could put the other kids on "One (or 5) more ride."

It was a good day.

Congratulations Chad and Chelsea Scott!!!!

My cousin Chad got married this weekend (08.08.08) to a cute girl named Chelsea!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! They make suuuuuuuuch a cute couple.

Too Many Pictures???

Today I went to Mandys house to just hang out while the kids played in the pool. I brought my camera thinking I could take some cute pictures...but silly me, forgot my memory card.

On the way home I was thinking about it and I thought... well, I dont have to actually take pictures EVERY single day. I have too many anyway. I dont even print them out all that often, and then when I do...its like thousands. Its not that bad that I missed out on one fun thing, right?

So then Im going through my blog list tonight checking out everyones blog and I come to this one http://leslieandaaron.blogspot.com/ Ive been reading this blog for a long time. Dont know how I found it. Probably blog surfing, noticed her name was Leslie, clicked on it. Im sure it went something like that. But she lost her husband about 8 months ago. I dont know how he died...but Im amazed at all the pictures she has of them doing stuff together. I mean she has tons of pictures of her husband. But to her, Im sure its not enough. Im sure she would have loved to have more.

Anyway, where Im going with all of this is...I will still keep taking my 100 pictures a day and Im not going to feel guilty about it anymore. Cause you can never have enough pictures, right?

Breaking Dawn

Jentry looooves the Twilight Series. She has read all three books two times. And for a 10 year old, reading that much, I think is pretty darn good. She has begged me and begged me to read them and finally I gave in. I like them alot. Some parts are a little teenagerish...but thats ok. All in all, I think they are great books! Anyway, as most of you know, the 4th book, Breaking Dawn came out at 12:01 August 2nd. I suprised Jentry by telling her that we would go stand in line at the Payson walmart (sounds pretty red-neckish when you say it lol) and get the book. She couldnt have been more excited.

We got there at 11 pm. I brought my sister in law Missy and Jentrys two cousins Maddie and Shelbey. Maddie and Missy have read the books and so they were excited to get the next one too...but Shelbey..she took the cake. She hasnt read them (Shes only 8) But I think she was the most excited one there. She had me cracking up the whole time. She thought it was the most exciting thing ever.

We met up with my cousin Mandy and her two sister in laws and cousin in law. So we had ourselves a good little group.

My aunt also showed up at about 11:45 with her sister and neice. But she had to leave after her husband called and said they were evacuating their house because of a fire that had broken out above their home. (no worries, everything turned out to be ok)

Anyway, we were able to get the book and Jentry is about half way done with it. I started reading last night and am about to page 120. Of course, Maddie is done. And I think Melissa is getting there. Mandy...Im sure shes still on chapter 2. JUST KIDDING MANDY!

Congratulations Lacey!!!

I got to see a baby be born!!!

I have wanted to do this for a long time. I know, some of you may think thats totally disgusting (probably the ones without kids) but to me, it was AMAZING!!!

Its a totally different experience when you arent the one in the bed.

I met Lacey (my cousin) at the hospital on Saturday at about noon. She had been in there since 8 am and was being induced. It was a long day of waiting. They broke her water at 2:00 and I thought things would go a little faster then they did...but its not like you can rush this process.

Little Mylee Michelle was born at 7:14 pm
7 lbs 11 oz (I guessed right)
19 inches.

I have a whole new respect for what our bodies have to go through to get a baby here. Its nothing short of a miracle.

Yee Haw

To celebrate Pioneers Day we took the kids to the rodeo. Last year we tried to get tickets but they were sold out. This year they did them online so we were able to get tickets! We went on Monday night and took all of the kids but Chase. I knew he wouldn't do well there and Id probably have a panic attack trying to hold him and not let him slip through the bleachers. (is that what they are called?) So Jamie watched him for us. The kids loved the rodeo. Next year Ill make sure to get better seats tho because we couldnt see much of the bull riding. The best part. But other then that it was good! The clown came out to do his 'half time' show and he did some motorcycle riding. Mr Motorcycle (Ty) himself, was scared. He was litterally shaking because when the guy jumped his motorcycle some kind of pyrotechnic thingy went off and made a big bang. He didnt like that one bit. I had to tell him the motorcycle guy was trying to be funny, not scary. After the clown left the arena he calmed down. A few minutes later the clown came back and Ty was telling me... "NO YELLOW HAT MAN!!!" I had to try to make light of it again. Now he tells me the "Yellow hat man nice". The rodeo lasted longer then I expected (we didnt get home until almost midnight) but it was still a great time!!!

Wanna Jump?

We got a trampoline a few days ago and finally got it all the way up, with the net today. The kids are so excited!! Jamie actually bought it for her house but it ended up being too big. So she had to get the size smaller. She asked us if we wanted it. OF COURSE!!!

Hopefully we can keep the broken bones to a minnimum.

Tooth #2....

Brinley lost her second tooth. And when I say lost, I mean lost.

She was eating a slice of cheese. All the sudden she looked up at me with her big ol eyes and said, "Did I lose my tooth?" Sure enough, she had!! She'd lost it all the way down to her belly. She was about beside herself until I told her that the tooth fairy would still come! Lets hope the tooth fairy remembers. She forgets sometimes.

This is how Chase has learned how to say "Thanks". It is so cute. I know this won't last long and he will learn to say it right so I just wanted to write this down so I remembered it.

Piano Lessons!!!

Jentry has started taking piano lessons. Shes wanted to for a long time...but lazy mom keeps forgetting to ask if the piano teacher has any openings. Well I went to the cannery with a bunch of ladies and 'Piano Teacher' ( Loni Wilson) was there. So that was my chance!!! She said she had one more opening. WAHOO!

So Jentry started piano lessons on Thursday. She goes every week and then once a month they also have group lessons with people at her same level.

The private lessons are only a half an hour at a time but boy did she teach her a ton just in that thirty minutes. She was playing a song by the time we left.

Jentry is loving it! She even begs to play all the time!! I hope she keeps this up!!

Haircuts for Everyone...

Ok not everyone...but just about.

I stopped by Jamies to drop Jentry off for a sleepover and asked her if I could set up some appts for everyone (except me) to get a hair cut. Of course she is WAY TOO NICE and said...well lets do them all right now. Jentry has been wanting to get her hair cut for awhile now because its been giving her headaches. And of course, cute do's are always nice for the summer!
Brinley went first and got a cute a-line cut.





Then the boys got their regular do's.

And then Jentry got her A-line.


Jamie got all done with it and said...well ok, do you want me to straiten it. YOU NEVER ASK JENTRY IF SHE WANTS HER HAIR STRAIGTENED!! The answer is ALWAYS YES YES YES! So of course Jamie was way too nice again and spent 30 minutes blowing and straightening her hair. BUT ITS SOOOOOOOOO CUTE! I love it! I love this type of cut on her. Last time she got this cut she was five...so its been awhile.

And since Jentrys hair turned out so cute...she started a chain reaction. Then Shelbey and Maddie wanted their hair cut like Jentrys. Mind you, Maddies hair was almost to her butt and Shelbeys wasnt far behind.

I think Jamie almost cried cutting their hair off. Ok, I know she almost did. But what a memory she made... All three cousins getting their hair cut like twiners!!! Maddie even had more then enuff to donate to Locks of Love. I dont know if Jamie will ever invite us over again after that. ;-)

4th of July!

We had a great fourth! We were gone most the day. We woke up to go to the parade in Provo. I had never taken the kids to a parade and with my cousins now living in my Great Aunts old house, right on Center Street I had to take this oportunity to go down there and see what they thought of the parade.

The parade was actually pretty good. It could be because I havent been to one in YEARS. But it was a little overcast so it wasn't scorching hot and the kids absolutely loved it. Ty was in love with all the COPS and Scott was excited because he got to see Glenn Beck and the military. The Governor was also there. Which was also a suprise.

After the parade we came home real quick and I made a salad to take to my parents for later and Scott and the boys slept while I hurried and cleaned up the kitchen. Then when the boys got up...off we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Ty was very excited to go up there.

We had a great dinner up there of steaks and potatoes (my favorite!)

Then the kids played in the hot tub while Scott slept again (oh yeah, did I mention hes waiting to have a root canal on Monday so his tooth has been bugging him a whole lot!)

Then we waited around for the Riverton City Fireworks. Went to my parents friends house that is right across the street from the park that puts them off. Ty looooooved it. He was sitting in my moms friends lap oooohing and awwing the whole time. It was very cute to see him loving the fire works.

THEN... we went to IHOP. It was only midnight by then. LOL So by the time we got home it was 1 am. Everyone was too pooped to poop but I think everyone had a great time!!!

By the way, have I ever mentioned that 4th of July is my most favorite holiday? I love it. The 24th of July (Pioneers day, for all you out of staters) comes in a close second!! I just love the summer holidays...BBQ's...playing outside. Just love it all.

This is what you call efficency

Ty has learned how to do laundry. And its a good thing. I need all the help I can get with all of these kids running around everywhere. His new job is to unload the washer, into the dryer. And he can do it "all myself!". He can even push the two buttons it takes to turn the dryer on. Niiiiice!!! (And yes, you must ALWAYS wear a cars helmet, cars shoes and a diaper when doing laundry)
