December 1st 1997, 11 years ago.

I became a mom. Scott became a dad. And we became grown up's.

He was 19. I was 17.

And we had a baby.

I cant believe its been 11 years!!! But then again, this kid...shes been through it all with us. There wasnt much time in our married life that she hasnt been there. And Im so glad she has been. She is my other arm. The other mother. She helps me so much with the boys. Shes such a great sister to her sister and such a great help to our whole family. And she hardley ever complains. Sometimes I see a little glimpse of the teenage years with her and I cringe. I know shes going to give me a run for my money and one day Ill wake up and she'll be a teenager with the attitude and everything. But for now, Im enjoying her just how she is. She still tells me everything. Every morning I wake up she tells me the dreams she had that night. And Im not talking 2 minute stories. She tells me every dream in great detail. Sometimes it takes the whole time shes getting ready. One day I'll miss her telling me her dreams.

Hopefully by then, shes living them.

We had went out to dinner with my parents on Saturday night to celebrate her birthday. So I wasnt really planning on having her a party. On Sunday she asked me if she should call everyone and invite them to her party. Well.. I guess so, if we are having one.

So she called family and invited them to the party.

Then she came home from school and said she had invited Kayleah too. (her BFF)

Ok.

So we had a party.

I made cupcakes and we had icecream.

I had brought her cookies for her class that morning and balloons to her class. She went a little pink in the face...but she was excited that we had brought balloons.

When I was cleaning up from the party that night she came in and said "Thanks for the party...It was the best day of my life"

Well if thats all it takes...

I love you Jentry Anne!!

I liked your post! I think Jentry is a very cute girl! I swear everytime I see her she just gets cuter! You're going to be in trouble when she's 16!

Oh Leslie, you are such a great Mother! I want to be a mom that my children can come to in honesty with personal things too. It's good that you're facing the possible reality that it may not be the case one day AND it's not your fault.

I enjoyed your post as well and can't believe how quickly time passes by. I appreciate that quote by President Monsen.

Happy Birthday Jentry. One of my clearest memories is hearing your first cries from down the hall while we were in the hospital waiting room. That little sound was a life changing experience for me at the age of 17. I love you lots, and I loved babysitting you when you were a baby.

Dig Brinley in the back wishing she were older. Reminds me of how Candice was as a kid. Happy birthday Jentry! Eleven...wow! You made it 11 years as a mom Leslie. THAT right there deserves cake!
